Use this topic to ask questions from other organizers.
ICML has published a large survey of past attendees to ask them questions about virtual conferences. I wasn’t particularly suprised by the results, but here are a couple of takeaways:
- People were not very interested in virtual reality experiences
- I was surprised by how many hours people said they were willing to participate.
- People overwhelmingly want to present and attend at a time that is convenient to their time zone. This makes me wonder if virtual conferences will end up being even more regional than face-to-face conferences.
- The distribution of attendees in timezones is slightly more skewed toward Asia than the society that I represent (IACR)
Thanks, Kevin — very interesting!
